Today, when the water is very valuable, the ecological consciousness inspired the idea that waste water can be treated and used again. The third stage in water purification treatment is disinfection, which can be done chemically (chlorination), and by UV treatment.
UV Disinfection and Chemical Treatment
CHLORINATION
Many of waste water treatment systems use chlorination as a disinfection method. Chlorination is a process of adding chlorine compounds to water, in order to remove all of the microorganisms and prevent them from growing further. For water disinfection different types of chlorine are used, such as chlorine-dioxide, gaseous chlorine, sodium-hypochlorite, and calcium-hypochlorite.
UV DISINFECTION
UV disinfection is an effective way for moderation of all bacteria, viruses and spores, including pathogenic ones which are immune to chlorine, by inducing photochemical processes inside the cells of organisms.
For UV disinfection we are using lamps which work on a wavelength from 180-1370 nm.
