Biofilm is a complex heterogeneous matrix of microorganisms which is located on submerged biomass carriers.<br \/>\nThis type of biological device adapts to unequal hydraulic and organic load during a day, week or month and it needs less surface for placement.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Description of Device Functioning&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1439022940613{margin-bottom: 5px !important;}&#8221;]<style type=\"text\/css\" >#l_f1bfqh542ft2xchxjaxi.sc_line ,#l_f1bfqh542ft2xchxjaxi .sc_line { height:1px; background:;}#l_f1bfqh542ft2xchxjaxi {margin:0px 0 0px 0; padding:0;}<\/style><div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div><div id=\"l_f1bfqh542ft2xchxjaxi\"  class=\"sc_line rd_line_normal\" ><\/div>[vc_column_text]The waste water is coming into a reception container which consists of two or three chambers. The first and second chamber are primary settler tanks as well as containers for superfluous activated sludge which is generated in the process of purification, unless a separate tank is not used for this purpose.<br \/>\nThe remaining chamber is a buffer tank in which the pump for transporting waste water into the bioreactor is located. In the bioreactor there are submerged biomass carriers with colonies of microorganisms. Biomass carriers are made from polyethylene, which is resistant to adverse impacts of waste water and it is not biodegradable, and it has a specific surface of 100-300 m\u00b2.<br \/>\nThe shape of the biomass carrier enables the best mixing of the reactor content. Microorganisms are converting organic pollutants from the waste water into sediment and mineral agents. This process is mainly done by aerobic microorganisms. The oxygen is being pumped into the water by blowers through membrane aerators which are fixed at the bottom of the tank underneath the biomass carriers. After treatment waste water is flowing gravitationally into the secondary tank. In this container the superfluous active sludge is being separated from layer of purified water.
